Samuel turned 2! I can hardly believe how fast it came. We had a great time celebrating his birthday with a party at my mom's house. We mostly had family come. Samuel had a good time. Unfortunately for me, Roberto has moved all the pictures from the party to another hard drive. We love our little guy. He is the sweetest little boy and we consider ourselves very fortunate to have him. Christmas was spent with my family. We spent the night with them on Christmas Eve. It was really fun to be there with them all. I do have pictures of this to share with you. :) We continued the tradition of "gingerbread" houses Samuel Presents! Spoiled? Yes, we bought Samuel a car. Roberto confesses to me now that it was one of those, "I didn't have one when I was a kid, so I want him to have one" purchases. Samuel loves it. Right now it just sits in his room. On December 4th 2012, my brother Daniel Cruz returned from his mission. We were able to go to the airport to welcome him home. It was SO fun to be at the airport. There were a TON of people all waiting for the same reason: missionaries!! As soon as they were coming down the escalators, we cheered! I felt SO happy to see my brother again. What a rush of excitement! From left to right: My brothers Joseph, Nephi, Danny, our son Samuel, Danny's friends, Taylor and Franklin and Roberto's brother Aaron.  When Danny saw my dad and hugged him, they hugged for what seemed like 3 minutes. I have never seen them hug for so long. It was so touching. What a blessing for our family! Danny and our Dad I am SO grateful that we were there for that moment. It would have been a bummer if we would have been living somewhere else far away. Danny's been adjusting to post-mission life just fine. His personality is pretty much the same as before he left. He's cool like that....

Hello friends! It's that time of year again! Lots of special occasions to celebrate. I am especially grateful that we have been blessed to be in Utah where our immediate family resides. It has been so fun to share all this time with them and make more memories. This past Halloween we were able to take Samuel trick-or-treating. Samuel absolutely LOVED it! It was so fun to see him get so excited about it.       We also spent Thanksgiving at my Mom's house this year and we had Roberto's mom join us along with her husband, Roberto's two brothers and sister. Good food and company as always.   Roberto has been loving his internship and it is coming to a close very soon! We are excited to find out what will happen after it's over. There is a good probability that he will be kept longer for another internship until the project that he is working on is completed. The best outcome would be for him to be hired on. Our little boy Samuel is a mellow child; most of the time, he just goes with the flow. Now that he is 21 months old and trying his best to communicate with us, it is not uncommon for him to become frustrated, which brings me to my story. It was a beautiful sunny day, the sky was blue, filled with clouds and there was a crisp fall breeze. We were at a park with a few friends from the neighborhood. Samuel was at the playground and spotted another child's tricycle (the kind that has an extension of a handle bar for an adult to push it). Having an obsession with pushing things around, Samuel could not help himself and ran towards it.  I received the "OK" from the mother of the child to which the tricycle belonged to and I began to follow Samuel. Time passed on and Samuel continued to play with this toy until the time came to return home for dinner. I had a very interesting experience last night and I just had to write about it. For the first time in a very long time, I had a conversation with a person not of my faith. For the most part it was fine, I tried my best to let him know of my personal experiences and testimony and I didn't feel overly defensive or threatened by what he said. Even so, it still caused me great sadness because he didn't really care about what I had to say. It was as if he was having the conversation simply to tell me of all the flaws of my beliefs and just prove that I was wrong. I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I always have been. I find peace and joy in living the gospel or in other words, living the lifestyle I have because of what I believe. The person I spoke with believes that the true meaning of life can be found in science and that there really is no purpose in being other than to just live as you see fit. YAY!! I'm finally writing again! So, where did I leave you hanging? Oh yeah, back in June we were in Rexburg and Roberto was  looking for an internship and we were thinking, what's going to happen? Luckily for us, in the beginning of July Roberto received a phone call, got an interview and just 2 days later, got the internship! :D The fourth of July was great! We went to Rigby Lake with friends and FINALLY went  to Idaho Falls and saw their fireworks, it was worth it. At the fireworks show! Roberto graduated from BYU-Idaho on July 21st 2012. Both sides of the family were able to be there with us to celebrate this great accomplishment. I am incredibly happy for Roberto, he has come so far and still has so much potential. Soon after graduation, we began packing our things for the move. At the same time, I was packing my bags for a trip of my own! I was headed to Dallas, Texas for my Mary Kay Seminar! So today I want to write a little about my journey as a business owner. As most of you know, I run an independent business through Mary Kay. Please understand that what I write is simply my experience and not a review about whether or not this business is right for anyone. Please, do NOT judge. When I first joined, 8 months ago, I simply did because I wanted something else to focus on while I raise my family. I also wanted to challenge and stretch myself, to cross uncharted waters, and do something that I naturally wouldn't. Sounds crazy, right? Well, call me crazy, but I think if I'm going to learn anything, I have to DO something about it. As I have done more with my business I find myself loving it more and more.
